Wikipedia - Kalimba... African Musical Instrument that originated from South Africa.
______________________________________________________________________

While Hugh Tracey was working with the Shona tribe of Zimbabwe, South Africa,
Hugh Tracey became fascinated with an instrument commonly known as the...

Mbira or "thumb piano."
It is an instrument found nowhere else in the world.
Hugh Tracey created an adaptation of the mbira which he called - Kalimba.

Due to the unique configuration of the Hugh Tracey Kalimba...
Every adjacent 2, 3 or 4 note combination makes a melodic sounding chord.

No other instrument on the planet has this unique configuration.
You Can Sound Good The First Time You Pick Up the Instrument!

Now Anyone Can be Making Beautiful Music
            ...In only 10 minutes!

             Hugh Tracey

The Hugh Tracey Kalimba is shaped like a small wooden box
with a circular hole in the middle (resonant box models).

It has thin metal strips or tongues which are the notes (called tines),
that are of varying lengths. The tines are plucked downward with
your thumbs using your thumbnails.

The longer the length of the tine...
The lower the pitch of the note.

The longest tine, and therefore the lowest note is
always in the middle.

Unlike other keyboard instruments with the lowest note on the far left,
the Hugh Tracey Kalimba notes are tuned in an alternating left-right
manner
starting from center.

The benefit of this alternate left-right note arrangement on the Hugh Tracey
Kalimba is that every 2 adjacent notes are melodically harmonized so...

You Can Start Sounding Good - Right Away!

Due to the unique configuration on a Hugh Tracey Kalimba...
Any 2 adjacent notes make a melodic sounding chord that harmonizes.
What this means in English, is that...

Any 2 adjacent-note combination you pluck will sound good.

As a matter of fact, if you swipe your thumb across any adjacent 2, 3, 4
or more note combination, you create pleasing, pretty sounding chords
that are harmonized.

No other instrument has this unique configuration!

If you try playing 2 adjacent notes on a piano, guitar, or any other instrument...
You get harsh sounding, discordant notes.

It just doesn't sound good. That's one of the major reasons that people don't stick
with learning to play a musical instrument. It sounds like noise, not music.

You Can Sound Good When You're Just Starting.

The Hugh Tracey Kalimba doesn't have those discordant chord patterns
on adjacent notes so it...

Always Makes Chords That are Harmonized and Blend Together.

Adjacent note chords blend well and sound sweet so...
You Start Sounding Good Right from the Start.

Now anyone, even YOU or your young children can...
Play a Musical Instrument and Make Beautiful Music...

  - Even if you Can't Read Music
  - Even if you Don't Want to learn to read music.

  - Even if you are tone deaf and can't sing a lick

  - Even if you have 2 left thumbs and no rhythm
  - Even if you have no previous musical experience...

Beginners Can Start Making Beautiful Sounding Tones

To create a piece of music or a song, all you need to do is...
Start plucking any 2 adjacent notes with your thumbs,
anywhere on the face of the Kalimba. That's it... Easy!

There is only 1 exception - the bottom note.

But just pluck the bottom note by itself, and it..
Harmonizes with all the other 2-note chords!

That's All You Need To Know To Start Making Sweet Music!

1) Pluck any 2-adjacent notes
2) Pluck the bottom note by itself
3) End your song on the bottom or top right note.

So simple, even...

A 6 year old child can pick it up and start playing.
Give the Gift of Music to a child. Watch their face light up.

All You have to do to start Making Music in 10 minutes is...
Move your thumbs around the instrument, plucking any
adjacent 2 note combinations.

Vary your rhythm. These 2 note combinations create melodic
chords that harmonize and create mellow, soothing, pretty
sounding music to anyone's ears.

You will be amazed at how good you sound!

Finish off your composition by plucking the root note
(either the top right or the Bottom Note, or both if you like).

In less than 10 minutes you have just created your first song!
And You Start Sounding Good Right Away - Hooray for YOU!

Hugh Tracey created the Kalimba so that it's melodies and harmonies,
would be more suited for Western traditions of music outside of
Africa,
by using a 7-tone diatonic scale.

The major diatonic (seven-note) scale, in key of C:
C D E F G A B C.

Expressed in Italian syllables, that is:
do re mi fa sol la ti do.

By using a diatonic scale, his brilliant design of the Kalimba makes
playing simple tunes easy and satisfying and is the secret weapon
that allows you to... Start playing beautiful music Immediately.

The Hugh Tracey Kalimba has a "sweet" tone and is made from
the finest of a rare, indigenous African hardwood...
- An exotic, resonant African hardwood called...  Kiaat

After experimenting with several woods, Hugh Tracey finally found
one wood that surpassed all others for tone...

The wood best-suited for Kalimba instruments is
Kiaat.

* Kiaat wood gives the Hugh Tracey Kalimba a deep, rich,
  handsome organic beauty.

* Kiaat wood gives the Hugh Tracey Kalimba a soothing, pleasant tonality
and gives the instrument a full and natural, resonant acoutic sound.

*WARNING*

Other brand Kalimbas
are made from rosewood or gourds.
(These will not give you the same tone or resonance).

The Hugh Tracey Kalimba is the only Kalimba made from kiaat wood.
The Kiaat wood gives the Hugh Tracey Kalimba a Clarity and Uniformity of Tone
- Unmatched by any other brand of Kalimba.

Every Hugh Tracey Kalimba is Hand-Crafted
by a Master-Craftsman in Grahamstown, South Africa.

Painstaking care is devoted to the selection of woods and even
the texture of the finishing varnishes.

When preparing the kiaat wood to create the Hugh Tracey Kalimbas,
...literally thousands of wood samples are searched for acoustical soundness
and to be visually pleasing.

This is no assembly line operation.

While the body of The Hugh Tracey Kalimba is made from kiaat wood...
The notes (tines) are made from a precision spring steel.

The spring steel tines have been designed to yield the exact amount of tension
required for maximum volume without being too stiff.

- This design yields maximum volume, tone and sustain.

The quality engineering of the bridge mechanism allows this finely-crafted
instrument to stay in tune, even when 'jamming' hard-core with a band.
